The Taj Fisherman’s Cove gave us a terrific first impression, of cool, calm professionalism when we arrived.
Looking around we were initially impressed by the huge pool with swim up bar, the lush gardens, and our beachfront cabin.
The food was excellent, especially at the beach side restaurant, where the seafood was out of this world.
We were spoiled for choice with the breakfasts, there was food for all nationalities, from The English to Indian, and Japanese, you’d never get bored!!
We had a beach cabin with an outside shower, fantastic views out to sea, and a great sitting area to enjoy the views.
The beach was perfectly clean, and the sea didn’t seem anything like as polluted as we had been told to expect. In fact the water was fine.
The longer we stayed, the more we felt that there was a slight degree of arrogance from the staff who were never impolite in any way, but they almost seemed smug. Having said that the service was excellent, although at times a little slow in the restaurants.
This is very much a ‘children are welcomed hotel’ at the weekends, so be prepared if you don’t have any yourself for the descent of the masses, and I do means lot and lots. You could almost say overrun.
It also would be fair to point out that although everything was very clean, it was also quite dated. The bathrooms were almost antique, and on closer inspection the hotel definitely needs more than maintenance, it also needs updating, so that it comes up to the high levels of other Taj hotels we have stayed in. I suppose it is India, and it s nice to feel just a little of the fading colonial grandeur!!
The hardest thing of all was to get a booking confirmed at The Taj Fisherman’s Cove, but keep persevering because it is worth it at the end.
